Minister of Digital Technologies Meets with South Korean Ambassador
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan, Won Do-Yeon.
The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technologies. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and South Korea have established effective collaboration in the area of digitalization, and the prospects for its further development are of great importance.
The ambassador praised the recent Public Service Forum held in Samarkand and noted the positive progress Uzbekistan has made in international e-government rankings.
Special attention during the meeting was given to the Korea-Uzbekistan Digital Center project. The ambassador commended the achievements within this initiative and stressed the importance of its further expansion. The minister noted that the center’s activities are contributing to the development of e-government in Uzbekistan and to strengthening the country’s position in global digital rankings.
Sherzod Shermatov also stated that Uzbekistan aims to be among the world’s top 30 most digitally advanced countries by 2030, underlining the importance of maintaining close cooperation with South Korea to achieve this goal.
The discussion also touched on attracting leading South Korean IT companies to Uzbekistan and highlighted the importance of continued support from the Korean Embassy in this regard.
In addition, the parties discussed further development of INHA University’s operations in Uzbekistan and improving the quality of its educational programs.
