Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan to visit the United States

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26-30 January, a delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Defense Abdusalam Azizov will visit the United States, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, representatives of Uzbekistan’s Defense Ministry will watch the active phase of the Southern Strike exercise at the Camp Shelby military base, in Mississippi.

Southern Strike is a Joint Force exercise hosted annually by the Mississippi Air National Guard. Southern Strike’s objective is to provide tailored, cost effective and realistic combat training for National Guard personnel in a joint and multinational environment. Military personnel of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense take part in this event for the first time.

The Uzbek military delegation will also visit the CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa, Florida, where negotiations will be held with its leadership. Views to be exchanged on implementation of measures of the Military Contacts Plan between Uzbekistan’s Defense Ministry and CENTCOM.
