Minister of Agriculture receives Ambassador of Israel
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador of Israel Edward Shapira and representatives of Gadot Agro held a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Ambassador of Israel Edward Shapira and Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev discussed prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture.
In particular, it was proposed to conduct the Uzbek-Israeli Agroforum in April 2019. It is expected that within the framework of the event, a visit of leading Israeli agricultural companies to the regions of the republic to get acquainted with the agricultural market of Uzbekistan and to establish direct contacts between farmers of the two countries will be organized.
“Israel has come a long way to create an effective system of agriculture in difficult climatic and environmental conditions. We are interested in applying advanced technologies and the experience of our Israeli colleagues, both to improve the quality and quantity of the crop, and to carry out structural reforms in agriculture,” Jamshid Khojaev said
The head of the diplomatic mission of Israel supported the initiative to prepare the Action Plan between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Israeli Embassy in 2019. The Israeli side also proposed to intensify cooperation through the MASHAV organization in order to further increase cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sphere.
Representatives of Gadot Agro presented solutions for the introduction of drip irrigation technologies in order to increase the yield of cotton crops and combat soil salinization.
