Minimum prices for alcohol to increase in Uzbekistan from 2019

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan raises minimum wholesale and retail prices for alcohol products, except beer, from 1 January 2019.

The new prices were approved by a joint resolution of the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Committee of December 24, 2018.

According to the decree, the minimum wholesale selling price for wine for producers is now 8,000 soums per liter (+ 23.07%), and the minimum retail price is 9,600 soums (+23.07%).

The minimum wholesale selling price for vodka and other alcoholic products will be 19,400 soums per liter (+ 21.25%), and the retail price – 23,200 soums (+ 20.83%).

The minimum wholesale selling price for cognac increased by 31.81% to 29,000 soums per liter, and retail - by 31.06% to 34,600 soums.

According to the law, in Uzbekistan it is forbidden to sell alcohol products below the minimum prices. The sale of alcoholic beverages, at prices lower than established, entails penalties. In this case, the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
