Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 December 2019, an opening ceremony of the Branch of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent took place.
The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, the rector of MGIMO Anatoly Torkunov, representatives of ministries and departments of the republic, faculty and students of the branch and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
As part of the opening, there will be methodological seminars on teaching business informatics and economics, blitz testing of applicants, an open day, a Russian-Uzbek seminar on a comparative analysis of civil law and approaches to issues of private international law, etc.
In October 2018, as part of the visit of the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to Tashkent, an intergovernmental Agreement was signed on the establishment and operation of branches of educational institutions of higher education of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Uzbekistan and an Agreement between the UWED and MGIMO on the establishment of a MGIMO branch in the republic.
The practical implementation of the agreements was the adoption on 11 February 2019 of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on organizing the activities of the MGIMO Branch in Tashkent.
Already on 1 September, the branch began its activities in a network form on the resource base of UWED. About 88 students were accepted to study in one direction of the bachelor’s degree in Business Informatics and two areas of the master’s program in Business Informatics and Jurisprudence.
Training on programs is built on a modular basis (duration of courses is 2-3 weeks). Courses are taught by MGIMO professors.
The training involves several “Moscow” modules: one semester for graduate students and three semesters for undergraduate students.h
