Meeting with EU Representatives on Tourism and Sustainable Mobility Held on the Sidelines of TITF-2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the 30th Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road,” a working meeting was held between the Chairperson of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Umida Shadieva, the European Union’s Special Representative for Central Asia, Edvards Stiprais, and the Director of the European Commission (DG MOVE), Mona Björklund.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and promising areas for further interaction in tourism, sustainable mobility, and transport.
Special attention was given to human capital development in the tourism sector, including the use of European educational platforms, professional training programs, and exchanges of expertise. The possibility of organizing regular follow-up forums with an expanded geography of participants and broader thematic coverage was also considered.
The discussion also focused on improving transport connectivity, expanding air links, and facilitating tourist travel between Central Asian countries and the European Union.
The EU representatives presented best practices in sustainable tourism, digitalization of services, and the development of “green” tourism routes.
The European side highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s initiative to establish a new interregional platform “CA–EU” and expressed readiness to support its further development, as well as the professional growth of Uzbek specialists in the tourism sector.
Following the negotiations, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the tourism industry, developing human potential, and expanding cooperation between the European Union and the countries of Central Asia.
