Meeting Held with Chair of Sweden’s Riksdag Group for Interparliamentary Cooperation “Northern Europe – Uzbekistan”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 November, in Istanbul, within the framework of the annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism, Odiljon Mamatkarimov, held a meeting with Björn Söder, Chair of the Riksdag Group for Interparliamentary Cooperation “Northern Europe – Uzbekistan” in Sweden.

During the talks, the parties discussed the development of interparliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and Sweden, as well as prospects for cooperation in legislative, trade and economic, tourism, information technology, education, and cultural spheres. Particular attention was paid to the intensification of interparliamentary contacts in recent years, including regular visits of Oliy Majlis representatives to Sweden and the successful 2025 visit to Uzbekistan by Sweden’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Julia Kronlid.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to further develop cooperation between the parliamentary committees of the two countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, promoting gender equality and social protection, engaging within international organizations, expanding the treaty base, strengthening ties between higher education institutions, and advancing interregional collaboration.
