Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By order of the Minister of Health, the Regulation on the appointment of medicines in medical organizations and the prescription of international nonproprietary names, as well as on the procedure for the reception, storage and use of medicines for patients, was approved.
The requirements of the Regulation do not apply to persons entitled to benefits in prescribing medicines, as well as in prescribing to a patient medicines containing narcotic drugs, their analogues, psychotropic substances, precursors and toxic substances.
In all medical organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, a mandatory prescription procedure for the international non-proprietary name of medicines is being introduced.
The document prescribes the procedure for the prescribing physician to prescribe medicines to the patient (international nonproprietary name, daily dose, method of administration or administration, quantity, duration, etc.), its recording in records (medical history, outpatient card), registration of the prescription in paper or electronic form.
In the following cases, the validity of prescribing medicines to the patient should be agreed with the head of the department or the doctor on duty or with the clinical pharmacologist of the medical organization:
when prescribing to the patient at the same time five or more drugs (regardless of their type);
in the presence of complications or concomitant diseases of the underlying disease.
In the prescription, the written instructions of the attending physician of the medical organization about the international non-proprietary name of the medicine, its composition, preparation and dispensation must be in Latin, and the method of use must be in the state language. In necessary cases, while providing a qualified translation, the recipe can be written in another language that the patient understands.
It is forbidden to issue a prescription for medicines by doctor in the following cases:
if the client does not have medical indications;
for drugs that have not passed state registration in Uzbekistan (with the exception of orphan drugs);
on drugs intended for use only in medical organizations, including drugs used as anesthesia.
The Regulation provides the form of the prescription letterhead for prescribing medicines, the procedure for writing and reassuring the attending physician, the main abbreviations used in writing prescriptions. Recipes in paper form or electronic recipes that are not prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Regulation are considered invalid.
The document spells out the procedure for the reception, storage and use in hospitalized medical organizations of medicines brought by patients (their relatives or persons visiting patients).
