Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek textile workers have started production of protective medical overalls based on 100% cotton hydrophobic fabric. Overalls based on the technology of imparting special protective properties to cotton fabrics are used in practice to prevent the risk of personnel contamination with pathogenic bacteria and viruses.

The initiator was the joint venture Сotton Road, which is part of the Uztekstilprom association, which has developed and mastered the production of these overalls.

At present, under an agreement with the companies CHT GmbH (Germany) and CHT Switzerland AG (Switzerland), the company has mastered the latest European innovative development “HeiQ Viroblock”. This is an antiviral and antimicrobial technology for the production of protective suits from cotton fabrics impregnated with a composition with microparticles of silver ions in combination with a special vesicular component.

Silver ions attract oppositely charged viruses and instantly bind to their sulfur groups, then the vesicular component destroys the virus. This new technology allows for a short 5-10 minutes of time to actively destroy pathogenic secretions of SARS-CoV-2, self-cleaning on clothes, which makes such overalls more effective than those currently used.

This innovative technology was developed in Switzerland specifically for the production of active antiviral tissues.

The existing practice has shown the following advantages of cotton overalls in comparison with overalls made of polymers, in particular from spunbond:

Due to their breathability, such overalls, while maintaining their protective properties, provide long-term comfortable work, ensuring the removal of excess heat.

The overall helps to save financial resources by more than 5-7 times due to the possibility of reusable use, because the cost of a reusable (allowing at least 15 times of use) overalls is only 2 times higher than the cost of a disposable one
