The document was adopted in order to further improve organization and management of maintenance and operation of channels in Tashkent city, as well as to improve their landscaping and adjacent to territories of the channel areas.

The government approved a proposal to eliminate the Tashkent City Water Management in Chirchik-Akhangaran Basin Irrigation System of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan.

The specialized department on maintenance, management, operation and repair of channels of the Main Department of Public Works of the city of Tashkent will be created on its bases.

The specialized department will conduct single policy on maintenance of channels in Tashkent city, ensure sanitary and technical conditions of the channel, clean and reconstruct channels, etc.

According to the document, the department will manage 104 channels with total length of 363.74 km.

The resolution also created a working group, which should carry out inventory of channels and hand over them to new department till 1 November 2013.
