Master class on microsurgical practice in the Innovation Clinic of Dr. Maksudova takes place

Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 27-28 January, with the support of the Ministry of Innovative Development, a master class is held on the practice of eye microsurgery in Dr. Maksudova’s clinic with the involvement of highly qualified microsurgeons of the Lions Eye Institute for plant and Research Clinic in Tampa, Florida (USA).

Transplant workshop, i.e. corneal transplantation, performed by highly professional eye microsurgeons Dr. Dr. Kubal Aarup Anant, Erkin Abdullaev and Marketing Director of the Institute Kurz Arthur Curt.

During the master class, specialists will consult for free 25 of our compatriots who have long been ill and suffer from corneal disease, 4 patients will undergo a unique microsurgical procedure, and 4 local ophthalmologists will be trained and will receive a special certificate.

Among the residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the number of patients requiring corneal transplantation and surgical intervention is about 1000 people per year. In our country over the past 5 years, a total of 108 operations have been performed. This surgical procedure is performed for degeneration or changes in the cornea due to various causes (inflammation of the cornea, trauma, congenital dystrophy, failed cataract surgery, keratoconus, etc.). To carry out this procedure, corneas from a donor are purchased in foreign countries, patients have to wait a long time for surgery or go abroad and look for a medicine, in some cases leading to blindness. Canned corneal transplant is distributed by special “Eye cans”. In many countries of the world, these banks operate successfully, in particular, at the Lions Eye Institute for Transplant and Research.

The leadership of Dr. Maksudov's innovative clinic contacted this center in August 2019 and reached cooperation agreements with the help of our compatriot Erkin Abdullaev, who studied in Uzbekistan and subsequently continued his work in US clinics and is now an employee of this center.
