Mass Food Poisoning Reported Among Children in Kindergartens of Jizzakh Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A case of mass food poisoning has been reported among children attending preschool institutions in the Farish district of Jizzakh region.

According to the district hokimiyat, on 9 October, between 9:00 and 16:00, 37 children aged 3 to 7 from kindergartens No. 1, 3, 5, and 7 sought medical assistance. The children complained of fever, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weakness.

“Epidemiological investigation determined that on October 8, the children consumed bio-kefir, cheese, and butter provided by the preschools. Based on their medical history and initial examination, they were diagnosed with acute diarrhea,” the official statement reads. All affected children received inpatient medical care.

A preliminary conclusion by the Department of Sanitary-Epidemiological Safety and Public Health of Jizzakh region indicates that the mass poisoning occurred due to violations of sanitary rules and standards during the transportation, storage, and handling of food products, which likely led to digestive disorders among the children.

In connection with this incident, the Farish District Prosecutor’s Office has initiated criminal case No. 082352/2025-24-FG under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Investigative actions are underway to establish all circumstances of the incident, according to the district hokimiyat’s information service.
