Mario Godinho de Matos becomes Portuguese envoy to Uzbekistan

Ambassador handed over credentials, addressed to the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

During the talks, the sides exchanged opinion on issues of the Uzbek-Portuguese agenda, including some international problems.

The sides positively rates relations between Uzbekistan and Portugal. The sides underlined mutual interests in further expanding and deepening relations in trade-economic and investment spheres, including implementation of high technological projects in various production sectors.

During the talks, the Uzbek and Portuguese officials considered issues of practical interaction between two states within the UN and other leading international institutions.

At the meeting, the sides discussed proposals on boosting contacts between two nations in cultural-humanitarian and tourism spheres.
