Mandatory certification of doctors to be introduced in Uzbekistan in 2021

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In accordance with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures to introduce a completely new system of training and continuous professional development of personnel in the health sector”, from 1 September 2020, scientific councils are organized for awarding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Science (DSc) in medical universities, located in the cities of Nukus, Andijan, Bukhara, Samarkand, Urgench and Ferghana.

Also, the Tashkent Institute for the Advancement of Doctors was transformed into the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers (Center);

- On the basis of the Republican Clinical Hospital No. 1 of the city of Tashkent, the Multidisciplinary Clinic of the Center is being formed;

- in regions where there are no medical universities (in Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Namangan and Syrdarya regions) branches of the Center are opened in territorial multidisciplinary medical centers;

- A training and simulation center is being created in the Center that meets the requirements of international standards.

Starting from 1 January 2021:

- the procedure is introduced for doctors to pass mandatory certification every 5 years to obtain a qualification category with the introduction of an online certification system for organizing this certification with audio and video surveillance;

- The fee for passing the certification of medical workers of primary health care institutions is canceled.
