Man Discovers Grenade, Firearms, and Over 1,600 Ammunition Rounds in Tashkent Basement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During renovations in his home, a man in Tashkent discovered a dangerous arsenal in his basement, including a grenade, firearms, and over 1,600 rounds of ammunition, and voluntarily handed the items over to law enforcement authorities.
According to the Main Department of Internal Affairs, on December 2 the man reported the find by calling 102. During an inspection, officers discovered an RGD-5 hand grenade, smoothbore firearms TOZ-8 and IZh-27, an explosive device, five grenade fuses, an electronic detonator with a detonating cord, 546 live cartridges of various types, and 1,100 pneumatic pellets.
It was determined that the confiscated weapons and ammunition belonged to the homeowner’s father, who previously served in the Ministry of Defense.
The Main Department of Internal Affairs reminded citizens that voluntarily surrendering weapons, ammunition, and explosives exempts them from criminal liability.
