Man Dies During Routine Surgery at Private Clinic in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A 31-year-old man died during a routine nasal surgery at a private clinic in the Karakamysh area of Tashkent’s Almazar district, according to the program Millar.
Relatives reported that the patient was taken to the operating room around 11:30 a.m., and a few hours later the family was informed of his death.
According to the clinic, the man suffered a sudden cardiac arrest before the surgery began. Family members suspect that an excessive dose of anesthesia may have been the cause. The patient’s wife said that prior test results had been sent to a cardiologist via Telegram, who confirmed there were no contraindications for the operation; the messages were later deleted.
A preliminary medical report indicates acute anaphylactic shock and cardiac arrest of unknown origin. Final conclusions will be made after a forensic examination.
The Prosecutor General’s Office stated that the patient, H.D., was admitted with a diagnosis of left-sided cystic sinusitis, bullous deformation of the right middle nasal turbinate, and vasomotor rhinitis. During the procedure, around 12:20 p.m., monitors recorded the absence of a pulse, resulting in biological death.
Almazar District prosecutors are conducting an investigation. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the clinic’s medical staff under Part 4, Article 116, Paragraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. The clinic’s activities have been officially suspended since December 6 during the preliminary investigation.
