Man Detained in Kokand with Nearly 1 kg of Hashish Worth 155 Million Soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Kokand, officers from the State Customs Committee’s Anti-Smuggling Department, together with the Fergana Regional Customs and the MVD Penitentiary Department, detained a 58-year-old man attempting to sell nearly 1 kilogram of hashish valued at 155 million soums.

The arrest was carried out during an operational action aimed at curbing illegal drug trafficking. Physical evidence was seized from the suspect.

A criminal case has been opened by customs authorities in connection with the incident.

It is recalled that Presidential Decree No. PF‑207 of 3 November 2025 on “Comprehensive Measures for the Effective Protection of Public Health and the Nation’s Gene Pool from Drug Abuse and Drug Crimes” strengthens penalties for illegal drug trafficking and increases liability for drug-related offenses committed against youth.
