Man Arrested in Tashkent for Forging SSS ID and Impersonating Security Officer

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Employees of the State Security Service (SSS) and the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs detained a 32-year-old man, D.O., during a joint operation on Shota Rustaveli Street in the Yakkasaray district for attempting to impersonate a law enforcement officer.

While stopping a white Lacetti vehicle, the driver presented officers with a forged SSS identification card and claimed to be a security service employee. He also called a supposed “superior” asking them to instruct the officers to release him. Law enforcement officers, suspecting foul play, verified the ID and established that it was fake and that D.O. had no affiliation with the SSS.

Investigations revealed that the man had a prior criminal record and had repeatedly impersonated officials from the Presidential Administration, various ministries, and law enforcement agencies, using forged documents for personal gain. During the court hearing, he admitted his guilt, stating:

"I presented myself as Alisher aka Suleymanov from the Presidential Administration. Later, I said I was their nephew. I asked for a little help to resolve my affairs faster. It was very wrong. I apologize to the Head of State and my people. It was foolish."

The court found D.O. guilty under Points “a” and “b” of Part 2, and Part 3 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (production, forgery, and use of documents, stamps, seals, and forms) and sentenced him to 3 years and 6 months in a colony-settlement.
