Malaysian Islamic Religious officials arrive in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 31 October to 5 November 2018, the embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur organized a visit of the Malaysian delegation headed by the President of the Islamic Council of the Sarawak State Mynna Bin Taha to Uzbekistan to establish close contacts between the clergy Uzbekistan and Malaysia, as well as the popularization of Ziyorat (pilgrimage) tourism in the republic among Malaysian citizens.

The delegation, consisting of 23 people, included the mufti, the general manager of the Hajj organization, the chief judge of the Sharia court, the director of the Department of Islamic Affairs, the head of the administration of the State Muftiyat, etc.

During the visit, meetings are scheduled with the leadership of the Muslims Board of Uzbekistan, the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Committee for Tourism Development and the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan, as well as a visit to the Astronomical Institute named after Mirzo Ulugbek and Maydanak Observatory.

Within the event, the Malaysian side intends to explore the potential of Uzbekistan in the field of pilgrimage (Ziyorat) tourism for Malaysian citizens. The delegation is particularly interested in learning about the Islamic cultural values of Uzbekistan and the country’s heritage in the development of astronomy.

Following the talks, agreements are expected in the areas of advanced training for faculty and student exchange, as well as in studying the scientific heritage of Islam through the organization of joint conferences, seminars and research of ancient manuscripts stored in Uzbekistan.
