Malaysia expresses willingness to organize internships and continuing education courses for employees of medical institutions in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 October 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov met with Fayziya Zhamalludin, vice president of KPJ Healthcare Berhad, a Malaysian health care services corporation, the Foreign Ministry reports.

KPJ is one of the largest leading private medical companies serving more than 2.8 million patients annually, has 26 specialized hospitals in Malaysia, and also has clinics in Indonesia, Bangladesh and Thailand. Along with this, the company operates centers for elderly care and support services, which offer both short-term and long-term care.

During the meeting, the Malaysian side was informed about large-scale reforms in the health sector, aimed at maintaining the health of the population, raising a physically and spiritually healthy generation. It is noted that the Concept for the Development of the Health Care System of Uzbekistan for 2019-2025 envisages the improvement of legislation, the system of financing health care, the development of the private sector, and the improvement of the quality and accessibility of medical care.

It was emphasized that the country’s leadership is taking the necessary measures to develop the private sector. So, in 2018 the number of private medical organizations increased by 889, and their total number today is more than 4670. Particular attention is paid to advanced training and internships for healthcare professionals abroad.

In turn, Faiziya Jamalludin noted that KPJ University College of Health operates at the medical company, where 30 fields and specialties are taught, as well as three specialized colleges.

In this regard, the Malaysian side expressed its readiness to organize internships and continuing education courses for employees of medical institutions in Uzbekistan.

KPJ management also announced its intention to consider the possibility of opening a joint clinic and / or managing a medical institution in our country with interested Uzbek partners.

Following the negotiations, the following agreements were reached:

- development and organization of tailor-made short-term training courses for employees of medical institutions in Uzbekistan;

- consider the possibility of establishing cooperation with interested Uzbek partners for the management and management of the existing hospital, as well as for the establishment of a joint clinic.
