Main tasks for implementation of agreements, adopted following the visit at the highest level to the UAE, discussed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 1 April, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on organization of the practical implementation of the agreements reached and signed during an official visit to the United Arab Emirates last week.
As previously reported, the head of our state held productive meetings and talks with the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Vice President, Prime Minister of the country , Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, members of the government and leaders of a number of leading companies in this country.
As a result of bilateral events, a Joint Statement and a number of important agreements were adopted, including on the implementation of promising investment projects and programs worth over US$10 billion.
The agreements cover such priority areas and areas of interaction as innovation, the oil and gas industry, traditional and alternative energy, the development of modern infrastructure, transport and logistics, agriculture, tourism, education and many others.
It should be emphasized that during the visit, the top leadership of the Emirates has repeatedly noted and expressed full support for the fundamental reforms and transformations implemented in the country. Evidence of the growing trust in our country is the growing interest of Emirates business circles in Uzbekistan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the need for timely and unconditional implementation of decisions and documents, and also stressed importance of immediately starting the implementation of the adopted “roadmap” through the introduction of effective tools and mechanisms for their promotion.
The priority joint projects with leading companies and organizations of the United Arab Emirates are defined as development of a land port and the Navoi free economic zone, an increase in hydrocarbon production in our country followed by their deep processing, modernization and expansion of Talimarjan and other operating thermal power plants, construction of wind and solar ammonia and carbamide production plants in the Syrdarya region and others.
In addition, issues of practical implementation of joint projects to create agro-industrial clusters and increase the export potential of the country’s agriculture, develop business, tourism and communal infrastructure in Samarkand, support business initiatives, including by attracting funds established with the participation of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund with a statutory fund of US$1 billion were considered.
Special attention was paid to the deepening of the partnership in the field of training highly qualified specialists, multifaceted cooperation with the company Masdar and Al-Khalifa University.
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade will open its office in the United Arab Emirates in order to coordinate work in this area and support projects.
The head of our state has given specific instructions for the timely implementation of the activities of the "road map".
The Government of the country, heads of ministries, departments and sectoral companies of the republic have been tasked to approve network schedules and begin the practical implementation of projects, introduce effective mechanisms for unconditional implementation of the Uzbek-Emirate agreements at the highest level as soon as possible.
