Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 27 February 2020, a meeting of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on women and gender equality was held, in which members of the Committee, representatives of ministries and departments, experts and media workers took part.
The meeting discussed issues that are envisaged to be considered at the second plenary meeting of the Senate. In particular, members of the Committee previously reviewed the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the establishment of the Day of Workers of the Mahalla System”.
It was noted that the mahalla institution, being the closest structure to the people, is important in bringing the essence of reforms to all segments of the population, and developing civil society. That is why this system is comprehensively supported by our state.
The development of this Law, which is planned to be discussed at the second plenary session of the Senate, is also an important step in this direction. The law envisages that 22 March to establish the Day of Workers of the Mahalla System.
Speakers at the meeting noted that the adoption of this Law stimulates mahalla activists, it will be a kind of recognition of their merits in the way of ensuring the well-being of the country.
The relevant decisions of the Committee were adopted on all the issues considered.
