Magnitude 6 earthquake strikes Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An earthquake struck southeast Uzbekistan on Sunday, 26 May 2013, the European-Mediterranean seismic center reported.

Tashkent seismic station reported that the earthquake power was 4 points in Tashkent, 5 points in Jizzakh and Samarkand cities.

According to the center, magnitude of the earthquake, which was registered at 11:08 Tashkent time, was 6. The epicenter was 194 km south-west Tashkent city and 32 km from Jizzakh city.

As reported earlier, Uzbekistan was shocked with the earthquake at 03:19 Tashkent time on Saturday, 25 May 2013.

Tashkent seismic station said that the earthquake power was 5.5-6 points at the epicenter and its magnitude was 5. The epicentre was in Tashkent region, about 40 km away to southern-western direction from Tashkent city.

The power of tremors in Tashkent city was 4-5 points.
