Madinabonu Adilova Wins Second Place for Uzbekistan at Silk Way Star
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan secured second place in the finale of the inaugural Silk Way Star international vocal competition, which brings together countries along the historic Silk Road, organizers reported on 24 November.
Uzbek contestant Madinabonu Adilova received 85,443 viewer votes out of 508,287 participants, finishing behind the winner from Mongolia, Michelle Joseph, who garnered 112,241 votes.
Seven finalists from 12 participating countries, including China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, and Malaysia, competed in the final round.
The project marks the first joint media initiative between China and Kazakhstan, launched under an agreement between Presidents Xi Jinping and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Broadcasts were conducted in Kazakh, Chinese, and English. President Tokayev congratulated the finalists, while Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen presented the award to the winner.
Organizers announced that the next season of Silk Way Star will take place in China, with an expanded roster of participants and strengthened cultural ties among regional countries.
