Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on 1 June 2020 “On urgent measures to reliably provide water for sown areas and to prevent water shortages in the summer irrigation season of 2020.”
Taking into account the forecast of the expected lack of water for irrigation in the republic’s water bodies, a working commission is created to reliably provide water for the sown areas and prevent its shortage, and to efficiently use the available water resources in the summer irrigation season of 2020.
The Commission was entrusted with the task of establishing full control over water consumption and its consumption only according to the requirements of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and khokims of the regions, especially in large reservoirs. For this, regional working groups and headquarters will be created in each region and district.
The resolution approved:
an action plan to reliably provide water to sown areas and prevent water shortages in the summer irrigation season of 2020;
calculation of irrigation water volumes, sources of coverage of its missing part;
work plans for June 2020: on reconstruction and repair of irrigation systems and hydrotechnical facilities, as well as repair and restoration work of pumping units and vertical irrigation wells using operational means of water management organizations;
forecast indicators for the introduction of water-saving irrigation technologies in the 2020 season.
The Ministry of Finance was instructed to transfer funds in the amount of 31 billion soums provided for in the estimates of pumping stations under irrigation system administrations for the purchase of mobile pumping units in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2020, to the 2nd quarter.
Due to credit resources placed in commercial banks with the funds of the State Support Fund for Agriculture, intended to finance expenses for the production of raw cotton, it is necessary to ensure timely payment of salaries to employees of water consumer associations.
