Legislative Chamber’s committee discusses amendments to some laws

On 5 September 2014, Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on industry, construction and trade considered a draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative documents in connection with adoption of the law “On conformity assessment” on 5 September 2014, the press service of the lower house of the Uzbek parliament said.
MPs, representatives of the government, Uzstandart Agency, Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and other bodies participated in the event.
It was underlined that the draft law was considered by factions of the political parties and MPs Group of Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan. The draft law was also considered at the conferences in Tashkent in order to improve the document.
The draft law is directed at harmonizing the legislation of Uzbekistan with the norms of the law “On conformity assessment”, which was adopted on 4 October 2013.
The working group said that it studied national and international practice, as well as laws of EU and CIS in development of the draft law. The document will be important to harmonize national laws with international requirements, protect interests of consumers and government, etc.
At the session, the participants expressed recommendations and proposals for further improving the draft law.
