Legislative Chamber considers draft law on countering extremism

In the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis, it was noted that unstable situation in some regions of the world, which leads to intensification of migration processes, and this, in turn, promotes the spread of terrorism, extremism and turning them into a global problem.

The draft law was developed in pursuance of the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on further implementation of the Convention of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on countering extremism, as well as implementation of the norms of this convention.

At the meeting it was emphasized that the adoption of this draft law will contribute to ensuring security of an individual, society, protection of the constitutional order and territorial integrity of the state, preservation of civil peace, inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony, timely prevention, detection and suppression of violations of extremism, elimination of their consequences, as well as ensuring the principle of inevitability of responsibility.
