Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  During a session of the Legislative Chamber, the draft law "On the Ratification of the Agreement on Establishing a Bilateral Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the State of Qatar," signed in Tashkent on 15 April 2024, was discussed in its first reading.

The agreement outlines a series of measures aimed at expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation. It covers ensuring stable growth in trade turnover, developing transport and logistics links, increasing the volume of mutual supplies of goods and services on a long-term basis, attracting investments, and creating joint ventures.

The document also emphasizes strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, science, healthcare, culture and cultural heritage, tourism, sports, and youth work.

Lawmakers noted that the ratification of this agreement would be an important step in advancing the friendly and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Qatar to a new level, based on mutual trust and reciprocal benefit.

Following the discussion, the draft law was approved by the deputies and forwarded to the Senate for consideration.
