Leaders of Uzbekistan and Kuwait agree to develop comprehensive partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 February, a meeting took place at the "Al-Bayan" Palace in Kuwait City between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal al-Sabah. The talks also involved members of the official delegations.

At the beginning of the conversation, President Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the Emir of Kuwait for the warm welcome and attention and extended congratulations to him and the people of Kuwait on the upcoming national holidays.

The discussions focused on the further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations, friendship, and multifaceted partnership. Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of Kuwait's national program "Vision 2035," whose goals align with the long-term priorities of Uzbekistan's New Development Strategy.

The leaders acknowledged the intensive political contacts and inter-agency exchanges, as well as the growth of mutual trade turnover and investments. Last year, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission took place, along with several significant business events.

Special attention was given to cooperation in trade and economic, investment, innovation, and financial and technical spheres. Priority areas for collaboration were identified as "green" energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, healthcare, and tourism.

To promote joint projects, agreements were made to create an Investment Platform and a Business Council, as well as to open a trade house in Kuwait City. A significant step was taken towards expanding the portfolio of projects with the Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund within the framework of the new Partnership Program.

Additionally, agreements were made to hold cross-cultural and tourism weeks in both countries, encourage participation in cultural and humanitarian events, including art, music, cinema, education, and sports.

The discussion also covered the support of both countries within organizations such as the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international bodies.

Furthermore, the leaders discussed joint efforts to prepare for the "Central Asia – Cooperation Council of Arab Gulf States" summit, which will be held in May in Samarkand.

Following the talks, it was decided to develop and strengthen comprehensive partnership. At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the Emir of Kuwait to visit Uzbekistan.
