Laziza Khaydarova Wins Uzbekistan’s First Judo Medal at Summer Universiade
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 July, Uzbek judokas kicked off their campaign at the World Summer Universiade, and on the very first day, Laziza Khaydarova secured the team’s first medal in judo.
Competing in the under-48 kg weight category, Khaydarova advanced to the semifinals and faced Poland’s Paulina Szlachta in the bronze medal match. She clinched victory with a technical move, earning a waza-ari point.
With this result, Uzbekistan’s medal tally at the Universiade now stands at 2 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
