Laziz Kudratov Discusses Development of Uzbek-Japanese Cooperation with JICA

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Sota Tosaka, head of the JICA office for Afghanistan.

During the talks, the parties discussed further development of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation and the organizational aspects of regional collaboration.

Particular attention was given to practical steps for ensuring effective coordination, creating conditions for JICA’s office operations, and strengthening institutional partnership. The Uzbek side confirmed its readiness to provide comprehensive support for Japanese initiatives and to maintain a constructive dialogue.

The discussion also covered prospects for expanding investment and infrastructure cooperation, supporting the private sector, and implementing sustainable development projects. Both sides emphasized their mutual interest in continuing joint work.

JICA remains one of Uzbekistan’s key partners, with total funds mobilized exceeding US$8.3 billion.

The country has implemented and continues to carry out projects in the energy, transport, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors, as well as programs for private sector financing and grant support, reflecting the long-term and comprehensive nature of the strategic partnership.
