Lawyer sentenced for drug sales

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Law enforcement bodies of Samarkand region stopped criminal activities of the lawyer Sh. Eshbekov connected with sales of drugs, the press service of the Prosecutor-General’s Office said.

During the operation, Eshbekov and his associate G. Bovshikov were detained when they were attempting to sell 89.5 grams hashish for US$800. The Prosecutor-General’s Office said they lift this activity to “professional level”.

In the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Eshbekov worked as lawyer, the Prosecutor-General’s Office said.

Besides, the law enforcement bodies seized another 236.24 grams of hashish as evidence in the office of the lawyer.

The court sentenced Eshbekov and Bovshikov for jail terms, the Prosecutor-General’s Office added.
