Lawmakers Adopted Draft Law in First Reading to Exempt Holders of the “Vatandosh” Card from State Duty

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis considered in the first reading the draft law “On Amendments and Additions to Article 13 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On State Duty.’”

The document is aimed at improving the current legislation on state duties and provides for the exemption of holders of the “Vatandosh” card and their family members from paying state duties for a number of public services related to migration and citizenship procedures.

In particular, it is proposed to exempt “Vatandosh” cardholders from paying state duty when registering at their place of residence, and to exempt their family members from paying fees for extending multiple-entry visas, registering at their place of stay, and extending registration periods.

These measures are designed to create more favorable legal and social conditions for compatriots living abroad to engage in professional, entrepreneurial, investment, scientific, educational, and cultural activities in Uzbekistan.

Following the discussion, the draft law was adopted by deputies in the first reading and sent for further consideration.
