Kyrgyzstan Accelerates Construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The international project to build the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway has moved into its practical phase, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev announced during a meeting with a delegation of China State Railway Group led by Deputy Director General Wang Lixin.

According to him, work has already begun on tunneling, establishing temporary infrastructure, and resolving organizational issues. The Cabinet of Ministers is providing comprehensive support for the project, holding regular coordination meetings with the involvement of relevant state agencies, while paying close attention to environmental and safety matters.

Torobaev stressed the importance of expanding Kyrgyz citizens’ participation in construction and prioritizing the purchase of goods and services from local companies.

Discussions also covered projected freight volumes, workforce training through the creation of a Railway Specialists Academy, and plans to establish economic zones in Torugart, Makmal, Jerge-Tal, and Jalal-Abad.

“The China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway is a road to the future, a symbol of friendship, partnership, and a shared commitment to sustainable development. We are confident that coordinated efforts will allow the project to be implemented with maximum efficiency, for the benefit of all our peoples,” Torobaev emphasized.
