Kuwait and Uzbekistan Strengthen Economic Cooperation and Investment Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment of Kuwait Sabih Al-Mukhayzim stated that the State of Kuwait is interested in further developing cooperation with Uzbekistan across all sectors in order to stimulate economic growth, KUNA reports.
The statement was made at the second meeting of the Kuwait–Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
Dr. Al-Mukhayzim emphasized that bilateral relations have gained new momentum thanks to joint diplomatic efforts and high-level contacts, noting that President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Kuwait in February 2025 opened new horizons for economic partnership and strategic dialogue.
The minister highlighted that the joint commission serves as an effective mechanism for developing initiatives aimed at deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. Intergovernmental interaction, he said, creates a solid foundation for long-term strategic partnership, while the private sector contributes to economic growth through the implementation of deals, attraction of investment, and job creation.
Al-Mukhayzim highly praised Uzbekistan’s economic reforms, noting their contribution to the modernization of the investment climate.
He also stressed that Kuwait is pursuing reforms to diversify its economy and modernize the financial sector, including through partnerships with global corporations and Uzbek investors.
According to him, the Kuwait–Uzbekistan Business Forum plays a significant role by bringing together investors from both countries to explore opportunities for joint projects.
In turn, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov noted the successful tourism promotion exhibition held in Kuwait, during which more than 30 Uzbek companies held meetings with their Kuwaiti counterparts to establish partnerships.
He reported that Uzbekistan has already sent a preliminary shipment of goods to Kuwait within 15 days and plans to organize new deliveries via Iran’s northern ports, which would reduce transportation time to seven or eight days.
