KNAUF plans to expand production capacities in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- KNAUF is planning to reinvest about 40 million euros to expand production of gypsum boards and gypsum-based mortars, director-general of KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA Dmitry Deripalko said on 15 April 2016.

Two enterprises of KNAUF are located in Bukhara region of Uzbekistan – Bukharagips, specializing on production of gypsum-based mortars and KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA, specializing on production of gypsum boards.

He said that the company adopted decision on realization of project on expansion of production capacities within the three stages.

Dmitry Deripalko said that the company plans to expand capacities on production of gypsum boards within the first stage. It is expected that the first stage will be completed in early 2017. The capacities of the production line will grow by 30% in the results.

Within the second stage, KNAUF plans to increase the capacities of production of gypsum-based mortars via building new plant at KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA. In the result, the volume of production of gypsum-based mortars will grow twice, head of the enterprise said.

KNUAF launched production of gypsum-based mortars at Bukharagips in 2009.

Third stage of the project envisages construction of additional capacities on gypsum calcinations.

Dmitry Deripalko said that total cost of the project is 40 million euros and it will be implemented due to re-investment. He said that about 10 million euros in soum equivalent will be used to construction works and 30 million euros – purchase of equipment.

He forecasted that the project will be realized from three to five years. At the same time, he expressed hope that the Government of Uzbekistan will support the project and it will be implemented much faster.

Dmitry Deripalko said that adopted governmental programmes on reconstruction of cities and construction of new objects support the enterprises of construction materials enterprises.

He said that KNAUF also plans to launch production of new products. One of such products will be floor gypsum boards. The company currently certifies the product.

The capacity of Bukharagips currently makes up 60,000 tonnes of gypsum-based mortars a year and KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA – 25 million square meters of boards a year.
