Kite Flying Near Airports Prohibited in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — With the arrival of warm weather, an increasing number of residents are choosing outdoor recreation, including flying kites. However, such activities near airports can pose a serious threat to flight safety, according to a report from Uzbekistan Airports.
It is noted that kites are capable of rising to significant heights and entering aircraft takeoff and landing zones. This creates a risk of collisions with planes, damage to equipment, and the occurrence of emergency situations. Furthermore, strong kite strings can damage aircraft components or be ingested into engines.
In accordance with Article 17 of the Air Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, activities representing a threat to flight safety include any action capable of affecting the security of aircraft and the people on board. Flying kites in the vicinity of an airfield is categorized as one of these risks.
Moreover, according to Article 116² of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, the unauthorized use of airspace entails a fine ranging from 20 to 100 base calculated values or administrative arrest for up to 15 days. In the event of an aviation incident, criminal liability may also apply.
Uzbekistan Airports urged citizens to observe the established restrictions and choose safe locations for recreation far from airports, emphasizing the critical importance of following these rules to ensure the safety of all flights.
