Khokim of Tashkent meets with the vice mayor of Vienna

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 September, a meeting was held in the khokimiyat of Tashkent with the vice mayor of Vienna, member of the city council Maria Vassilaku.

During the conversation, the khokim of Tashkent Jahongir Artykhodjaev noted the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Austria. In particular, he said that 44 joint ventures operate in partnership with Austria, and in 2018 more than 3,000 tourists from Austria visited our country. He also pointed to the fact that tourism in Uzbekistan is developing significantly - largely due to the fact that citizens of more than 90 countries have a visa-free regime. Having added that much more needs to be done in this direction.

Vienna Vice Mayor thanked for the warm and friendly welcome and noted that she really liked the well-organized streets of Tashkent and its unique architecture, combining national traditions and modernity.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of urban infrastructure. Vassilaku spoke about the Vienna concept of tourism development, education, public transport and energy policy.

In turn, Jahongir Artykhodjaev spoke about the measures taken under the Safe City concept in the capital, and the attention paid to historical monuments, the development of culture, art and sports. He emphasized the importance of developing cooperation with Vienna in the field of tourism in order to increase the tourism potential of Tashkent.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue between Tashkent and Vienna.
