Kazakhstan Ratifies Green Energy Pact with Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved the law ratifying the Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the production and transmission of "green" energy between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The session of the upper house, chaired by Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev, addressed several bills and deputy inquiries, with the tripartite agreement on renewable energy development taking center stage. The ratification of this document is aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan's energy security, diversifying transit routes, and ensuring sustainable economic growth through the export of low-carbon products.

According to the agreement, a Steering Committee and a Working Group will be established to coordinate joint activities. The parties will define the technical and commercial conditions for the reliable and uninterrupted transmission of "green" electricity. Furthermore, the document provides for the implementation of new energy-efficient technologies and the development of infrastructure to facilitate energy exports to Europe and other regions.

The agreement was originally signed by the heads of the three states on November 13, 2024, in Baku. It is designed to bolster regional cooperation and solidify the strategic alignment of Central Asia and the South Caucasus in the field of renewable energy.
