Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Explore Establishment of Petrochemical Plant
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — JSC KazMunayGas and JSC Uzbekneftegaz have signed a Framework Agreement on the joint implementation of a project to construct a petrochemical complex for the production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB).
The signing took place on 15 November during the state visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Uzbekistan.
The document formalizes the agreement to begin a detailed study of the investment project, including the development of project documentation and the necessary technical and economic calculations.
It is expected that the future complex will have a production capacity of up to 50,000 tons per year. Linear alkylbenzene is a key raw material for the production of synthetic detergents and household chemicals.
The parties plan to make a final investment decision after completing the project design work and evaluating all parameters of the future enterprise.
The signing of the Framework Agreement marks an important step in expanding industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and confirms the strategic nature of collaboration in the petrochemical sector.
The implementation of the project will help meet domestic demand for chemical industry raw materials, reduce import dependence, and create additional incentives for the development of processing and the launch of new household chemical production in both countries.
