Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Aim for US$10 Billion in Trade
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached nearly US$5 billion in 2025, marking a 16% increase from the previous year. This was reported by the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Erlan Koshanov, during a meeting in Bukhara with Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan, Nuriddin Ismoilov.
Koshanov stated that the two countries have set a new ambitious goal: to raise bilateral trade to US$10 billion. Currently, 78 joint projects totaling US$1.8 billion are underway.
The discussions focused on cooperation in trade, economic and agricultural sectors, as well as sustainable development, the green economy, and energy.
Koshanov emphasized that the high level of political dialogue between the leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan ensures effective cooperation across all branches of government.
He also briefed Uzbek parliamentarians on the results of the constitutional referendum, highlighting that the new constitution is the culmination of extensive reforms implemented by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev since the start of his presidency.
The Mazhilis Chairman underscored Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening centuries-old friendship and good-neighborly relations with Uzbekistan. Political will from both countries has established a model of strategic partnership and alliance.
Interparliamentary cooperation follows these agreements, with delegation meetings providing detailed discussions across the full spectrum of bilateral collaboration, including culture, education, and tourism.
