Kazakh Scholars Study the Mahalla Institution in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of the School of Humanities at Narxoz University of the Republic of Kazakhstan have studied the activities of the mahalla institution in Uzbekistan.
Earlier, during an online meeting, the guests expressed strong interest in the mahalla system and their intention to visit the country for deeper academic research.
During their visit, the Kazakh representatives met with officials from the National Agency for Social Protection and the Center for Community Empowerment and Social Well-Being. They examined Uzbekistan’s experience in social work and conducted field research in the “Yangi Kamolon” mahalla in Tashkent and the “Mustaqillik” mahalla in Tashkent region.
The Kazakh scholars received detailed information about the work of mahallas, social services, mechanisms for assisting women and children affected by violence, the role of national traditions and values, engagement with children from at-risk groups, and support for individuals in need of home care.
Based on their research findings, the visitors emphasized the uniqueness of Uzbekistan’s mahalla model and its importance for advancing social protection and strengthening communities across the region.
