Kazakh Ambassador to Uzbekistan suspended from office

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev temporarily suspended from office the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.

By the decree of Nazarbayev, Erik Utembayev was suspended from the exercise of the official powers of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.

Earlier it was reported that Erik Utembaev was suspected of signing a fake act of completed work on the construction of the embassy of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan.

The damage caused by such actions is estimated at over 140 million tenge, which is equivalent to about US$380,000.
