Katara Head Named Cultural Ambassador of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, the General Manager of the Katara Cultural Village, stated that his appointment as the Cultural Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a significant honor for both him personally and the State of Qatar. This was reported by the publication The Peninsula Qatar.
In an interview with the publication, Al-Sulaiti expressed his gratitude to Uzbekistan for the trust placed in him, emphasizing that he views this appointment as recognition not only of his work but also of Qatar’s role on the international cultural stage.
According to Al-Sulaiti, cultural cooperation between Qatar and Uzbekistan began in 2011 and has developed consistently ever since. In 2012, he visited Uzbekistan to participate in major cultural events, which served as a starting point for further engagement.
Since then, the parties have implemented numerous joint initiatives, including exhibitions, festivals, and other cultural programs. These events are regularly held in Doha with the participation of Uzbek artists and creative groups, supported by diplomatic missions.
Al-Sulaiti noted that the Katara Cultural Village has become a key platform for developing bilateral cultural cooperation. Currently, preparations are underway for new joint projects aimed at further strengthening humanitarian ties.
He emphasized that culture plays a vital role in strengthening mutual understanding between nations and promoting peace, particularly in light of modern regional challenges. According to him, Qatar is actively promoting cultural diplomacy and currently leads an international network comprising 28 countries.
Al-Sulaiti added that his appointment reflects the high level of trust and mutual respect between Uzbekistan and Qatar, as well as the desire of both countries to expand cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
It is expected that Al-Sulaiti’s new role will facilitate the further development of Uzbekistan's cultural interaction with Qatar and other nations, while strengthening Qatar’s position in promoting culture as a tool for global dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
