Karakalpakstan Launches State Support Program for AI and Mining Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) Vyacheslav Pak announced in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 TV channel that new measures to promote artificial intelligence (AI) development in Karakalpakstan have been approved at a recent meeting.

The initiatives include training specialists, establishing university-based laboratories, and providing state support and incentives for selected projects worth a total of US$100 million.

“These support measures also include the mining sector, which will benefit from a preferential electricity tariff,” Pak noted.

In August, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved measures to accelerate the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan. As part of these initiatives, a draft resolution was ordered to create a special mining zone in the region powered by renewable energy sources, with preferential electricity rates.

According to Vyacheslav Pak, this comprehensive program aims to foster the region’s innovative economy, attract investment, and train qualified specialists in high-tech fields.
