Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 February 2020, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov arrived in Doha on a working visit and met with the head of the Taliban political office in Qatar, Mullah Barodar Akhund.
During the meeting, issues related to the promotion of the peaceful political process in Afghanistan with a view to establishing a sustainable and long-term peace in the country were discussed.
Mulla Barodar expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his constant attention to the problems of Afghanistan. He acknowledged that thanks to the efforts of Uzbekistan, the Afghan conflict was again in the spotlight of the international community.
The head of the political office of the Taliban Movement emphasized that Uzbekistan has always been and remains the most reliable friend of the Afghan people, despite the difficult ups and downs of history, which is especially clearly manifested in the present time, when Afghanistan more than ever needs peace and economic assistance.
At the same time, Mullah Barodar particularly noted the efforts of Uzbekistan to launch a peaceful political process in Afghanistan, the implementation of various economic projects in the country, the main purpose of which is the welfare and progress of the Afghan people, the prosperity of Afghanistan as a peaceful and stable state.
