Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov claimed the silver medal at the prestigious Tata Steel Chess tournament, scoring 8.5 points out of a possible 13.
Sindarov was the only participant in the competition to remain unbeaten throughout the event.
Remarkably, this was his debut at the tournament, and on his first attempt, he secured a silver medal — an outstanding achievement.
In addition to the medal, Sindarov gained significant rating points. Prior to the tournament, he was ranked 21st in the global online rating, and he has now jumped to 11th, setting a new personal best.
Earlier reports noted that Nodirbek Abdusattorov won the title at the same tournament, scoring 9 out of 13 points and clearly surpassing all his competitors.
