Javokhir Sindarov to Represent Uzbekistan at FIDE Candidates Tournament Among World’s Top Chess Players

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek chess player Javokhir Sindarov has secured his place in the FIDE Candidates Tournament, which will take place in Cyprus at the Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort. He earned this prestigious spot thanks to his strong performance at the 2025 FIDE World Cup.

In the men’s section, competitors vying for the chance to challenge for the world chess crown include Fabiano Caruana, Anish Giri, Matthias Bluebaum, Wei Yi, Andrey Esipenko, and Hikaru Nakamura. All participants qualified through the FIDE Circuit, the Grand Swiss Tournament, and the global rating list.

In the women’s section, the contenders for the Candidates title are Zhu Jiner, Alexandra Goryachkina, Divya Deshmukh, Humpy Koneru, Tan Zhongyi, R. Vaishali, Kateryna Lagno, and Bibisara Assaubayeva. The lineup was determined based on the Women’s Grand Prix series and the Women’s World Cup results.

The winners of both the men’s and women’s tournaments will earn official Candidates status and face the reigning world champions in the final matches.
