Japanese Shogun City Investment Project Kicks Off in Ferghana

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The city of Ferghana has officially launched the large-scale Japanese investment project Shogun City, implemented by the Japanese company Micado Development.

The opening ceremony was held at the Asia Hotel conference hall with the participation of regional authorities, representatives of Uzbekistan’s business community, and the Japanese business delegation.

Attendees included Deputy Hokim of Ferghana Region Khurshid Akhmedov, Hokim of Ferghana city Vosiljon Nazarov, head of the Uzbek-Japanese Trade House Buniyodbek Ibragimov, and the Japanese delegation led by Micado Development CEO Takefumi Okuda.

Shogun City is being developed in the Yangi Uzbekistan – “Ecositi” district of Ferghana and envisions a multifunctional complex featuring a Japanese garden, hotel, restaurant cluster, modern residential complex, and business center. The project concept combines traditional Japanese culture and architecture with modern urban planning solutions.

Speakers at the ceremony highlighted that the expansion of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation has been made possible by the trusting and partnership-based relations between the two countries’ leadership. The favorable investment climate in Uzbekistan facilitates the attraction of foreign capital. It was emphasized that Shogun City will make a significant contribution to the development of Ferghana Region and strengthen bilateral ties with Japan.

Takefumi Okuda noted that the total project cost is US$60 million and expressed confidence that Shogun City will become a major long-term business project for both Uzbekistan and Ferghana. He also highlighted that it will serve as a platform to attract new Japanese investors and boost the region’s tourism appeal.

During the visit, the Japanese delegation inspected ongoing construction in the Yangi Uzbekistan district and inaugurated the office of the first phase of the project—the modern residential complex Sakura Garden—marking the transition of Shogun City into its practical implementation phase.
