Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 6 October, the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasimov and Mr. Ryutaro Okamoto, President and Chief Executive Officer of Japan’s Okamoto Corporation.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for joint projects in the textile industry, the localization of production, and the possible opening of an Okamoto Corporation representative office in Uzbekistan.
The Japanese delegation was briefed on the country’s investment potential, conditions for foreign investors, and incentives offered in the textile sector. It was noted that Uzbekistan places special emphasis on attracting advanced technologies, enhancing export capacity, and expanding production facilities in the textile industry.
Okamoto Corporation was founded in 1948 in Nara Prefecture, Japan. Today, the company operates textile factories in Japan, China, and Thailand, and manages a distribution firm in the United States that partners with major global retail chains, including Walmart, Amazon, and Costco. The company’s annual exports exceed USD 100 million.
Both sides expressed readiness to actively strengthen cooperation and take practical steps to advance joint initiatives in the Uzbek market.
